Welcome to My Blog

I am a follower of Jesus and have been happily married to my best friend Shawn for 27 years. We are blessed with a daughter Anna and a beautiful 5 year old granddaughter Lily Grace.

I love being a homemaker and a life long learner. I enjoy listening to podcasts and audio books, tending my flower boxes and doing craft projects with my granddaughter.

I am living with chronic fatigue syndrome (ME/CFS) and fibromyalgia and I am using this blog to collect sources of inspiration that I hope will encourage others who are also in a season of suffering.

I happened across your blog from just randomly looking up your name off of the 1Password credits. Interesting that I share similar afflictions. I am 52 years old, disabled for 7 years as a result of chronic pain originating in my neck and back. I too was drawn back to focused study and prayer, although I always had a strong faith, I didn’t actively strengthen it until this affliction.
I am now a stay at home dad of a wonderful daughter, Olivia, and volunteer at her school once a week, teaching science. This is completely the opposite of the role my wife and I envisioned for ourselves. Anyway, looking forward to reading more and contributing positive messages, hopefully.

Thank you for sharing your story with me, Jim. It’s encouraging to hear about God’s grace in the midst of your pain. Your daughter is blessed to have such a devoted father!

    Hey Rachel,

Just wondering if you are still around. I originally “saw” you in the Sunroom at Rest Ministries. We are the same age and have been married around the same length of time. Our circumstances have kept us from having children — I’m guessing that might be the same story for you. Just thought I’d say “hello” and see if I heard back from anyone. ~ Sarah Mc

Thank you for visiting my blog, Sarah! My husband and I have one daughter who is 16 now. My health problems didn’t become serious until she was 12, so I’m grateful that I was able to be a more active mom when she was younger. I would love to connect with you more, so I will message you through the Rest Ministries site.

    Hello Rachel,
I thought I would check in as well to say hello, and ask how you are doing. A year has passed, and we remain in Christ’s love. My daughter is now in 1st grade, don’t get to volunteer as much, but still do 1 day a week.
Hope you have felt God’s love and Grace in the past year.

    – Jim

Thank you for checking in, Jim! I’m so glad to hear that you are still able to volunteer. I have experienced some modest improvement in my condition over the last year, so I am very grateful. And yes, I have felt God’s love and grace more than ever before!

    Hello, Rachel,

I love the words of Michael Jothen’s “He is Risen.” I direct a children’s choir and I’m trying to find at least one copy of the music so we can sing it for Easter. Do you happen to have a copy? It’s currently out of print with any publishers I’ve researched.

    Thanks so much.
